From earlier versions of this guide
This section was carried over from earlier versions of the user guide. Menu names and screens may differ in your version of Word or your form. If something does not match, contact High Tech Forms Support.
Adding text¶
Adding text to the lease¶
Position the text cursor where you want to insert text, then type.
Filling in blanks¶
Use the arrow keys, Page Up, Page Down, or the mouse to position the cursor on a blank, then enter the appropriate text. Generally, position the cursor in the center of the blank line. If a blank begins a line of text, type from the beginning instead.
Pasting text from other documents¶
If pasted text does not match the lease formatting, position the cursor inside the paragraph and choose Apply Standard Paragraph Format from the High Tech Forms menu, or press Alt+P. For macro settings, see Macro security.
Deleting text¶
Highlight the text and press Delete. Original contract text is marked with strikethrough. To undo an accidental deletion, choose Edit > Undo or press Ctrl+Z.
Replacing text¶
Strike through the text to be replaced, then add the replacement text.
You can also highlight the original text and begin typing the replacement. The original text is struck through and the replacement is inserted to its right.
Removing revisions¶
To remove a strikethrough line, highlight the affected text and choose Remove Revision from the High Tech Forms menu.
To remove text you inserted, highlight it and press Delete. To remove another author’s edits, highlight the affected text and choose Remove Revision from the High Tech Forms menu.
Turning off revision balloons¶
Revision balloons can cause printing and display problems. Turn them off using the revision balloons instructions.
Adding acknowledgments and signature lines¶
Blank contracts have no signature lines. Position the cursor where you want the signature or acknowledgment block, then choose Add Acknowledgment/Signature Line from the High Tech Forms menu.
Choose one of these six items:
- Individual Signature Line
- Individual Signature with Witness
- Individual Acknowledgment
- Corporate Signature Line
- Corporate Acknowledgment
- Witness Acknowledgment
Removing acknowledgments and signature lines¶
Place the cursor in the unwanted block’s table, then choose Remove Acknowledgment/Signature Line Table from the High Tech Forms menu.
Adding the filename to the footer¶
To identify the saved file from a printed document, choose Insert Filename in Footer from the High Tech Forms menu. The filename is inserted just to the right of the page numbering.
Multiple authors and editors¶
To modify another editor’s revisions, highlight the affected text and choose Remove Revision from the High Tech Forms menu. For example, use this command to delete text another editor added to the lease.
Superseding language¶
You may add provisions to the lease, but you must specify that the added provisions supersede the standard provisions. If you do not specifically state this, or strike through the provisions the additions contradict, your lease could be legally ambiguous and untenable in a court of law.
