Archived revision balloon instructions

Historical instructions recovered from the old user guide. These are for older documents and installations only, not current template compatibility guidance. Current templates no longer support very old versions of Word. Return to current instructions.

Word 2002

  1. Click Tools > Options, then the Track Changes tab.
  2. Clear Use Balloons in Print and Web Layout.

Word 2003

  1. Click Tools > Options, then the Track Changes tab.
  2. For Use Balloons (Print and Web Layout), choose Never.

Word 2007

  1. Select Review.
  2. Select Balloons > Show All Revisions Inline.

Word 2010

  1. Select Review > Track Changes > Change Tracking Options.
  2. In Balloons, set Use Balloons (Print and Web Layout) to Never.

Word 2013

  1. Select Review and set Display for Review to All Markup.
  2. Open the small dialog launcher in the Tracking group.
  3. For Balloons in All Markup view show, select Nothing.

Check print preview with required revisions visible. Do not accept or reject changes just to hide balloons.
